In a few years carbon will be the main source of energy in the world. In spite of this fact the northern region of Spain continues to suffer increased unemployment. Entire villages are slated to disappear due to the shutting down of mines and the subsequent lack of resources for families. There still remains a lot of carbon to be mined in Spain but the policies of the Spanish government and the importation of cheaper energy from other countries dispels a dark future for this sector. The lay-offs and sackings have made workers to take to the streets once again in protest. Today we get to know the miners.
