A group of boys and girls from Mali dream of being big basketball stars and pulling their families out of poverty to give them a better life. In front of them, the biggest challenge of their lives: the sub 17 world championship held in Spain. The country, at war and with a jihadist presence in the north, has other priorities more urgent than meeting the needs of the Malian youth, affected by demotivation, low level education and alarming figures of youth unemployment. Basketball is for them the way of escape, the only way to not lose hope.
