Ferrol is a municipality of Galicia, in Spain. Its streets are today the personification of depression and decadence – buildings in ruins, deserted streets, a grey landscape, businesses in decline.

Many years ago residents of this town had work, the activity was frenetic, the bars were full, the business had good turnover and money flowed. This was due to the shipping industry on which a third of the local population depended in the 1970s. Its industrial restructuring in the 1980s and the entrance of Spain into the European Union marked the beginning of the end for this industry.
